SpecGrade
How the card gets graded.
SpecGrade is the system behind every SpecVision grade. No graders' desks, no lamp and loupe. A card goes in, gets imaged the same way as every card before it, and comes out with a grade you can check.

Light reveals everything.
Light from every angle. Every number with its evidence.
The process
Submit. Scan. Analyze. Grade & slab.
Send the card. That's the whole form.
Tell us what it is, drop it in the mail or hand it over at an event. From here on nothing depends on who happens to be working that day.
Imaged from every angle, under controlled light.
The card sits in a fixed rig with several cameras and several kinds of lighting. Straight-on light shows print and centering; angled light shows the surface, so dimples, scratches and corner wear show up as what they are, not as shadows.
Four subscores, one set of rules.
Centering, corners, edges and surface are each scored from the images against the same criteria every card gets. Because the criteria never move, the same card scores the same on a resubmission. Each subscore keeps the picture that produced it. The overlay shown is a real one: the engine found the card edge, found the printed border, and measured the gap on all four sides of this 1911 Ty Cobb.
The grade, the report, and a slab that proves itself.
The final grade comes from the four subscores. It ships back sealed in a tamper-evident holder with the full report attached to the record, and a chip in the label that links any phone straight to that record. chip: coming soon
The detailed report
A number is an opinion. A report is a fact.
Every SpecGrade comes with the reasons. Here is the kind of thing you'll read on yours.
Corner wear
Visibly rounded upper-left corner. Light whitening on two corners. The crop of each corner is in the report.
Centering
Image shifted left; borders measure about 80/20. The right border is thinner. Shown as a measured overlay, not a description.
Dimples
Several small indentations found under angled light, each marked on the image so you can find them on the card.
Scratches
Multiple fine scratches near the top-right and bottom-right, visible in the raking-light capture.
Every subscore is labelled with how it was measured. If something could not be measured on a card, the report says so instead of inventing a number.
Why it holds up
Repeatable. Transparent. Evidence-backed.
Repeatable
Fixed capture, fixed criteria. The process has no bad days, so a resubmission is a re-measurement, not a second opinion.
Transparent
Four subscores and the images behind them are part of the grade, not a paid add-on.
Evidence-backed
Every claim on the report points at a picture. Buyers and sellers argue less when they can both look.
The team
Collectors, engineers, operators.
Bios and photos to follow.
